Research with Perplexity

What is Perplexity?

Standard AI models (like GPT-4) write based on training data that can be months or years old. Perplexity is different: it searches the live internet before writing, ensuring your content is up-to-date and includes verifiable sources.

Setting Up Perplexity

To use these features, you must first configure your Perplexity API key:

1. Follow our API Keys Guide to get your key.
2. Enter it in the Connections > API Keys tab.
3. Select one of the “Sonar” models from the list of available models.

Advanced Perplexity Settings

You can fine-tune how the research is conducted in the Connections > API Keys tab (once a Perplexity key is added):

• Citation Style: Choose how you want sources to appear:
  • Inline Hyperlinks: Small numbers [1] linked directly in the text.
  • References Section: A “Sources” list at the bottom of the post.
  • Both: Hyperlinks in text and a summary list at the bottom.
• Recency Filter: Tell the AI to only look at sources from the last day, week, month, or year. Perfect for news-heavy sites!
